SENI Adamawa programme update · 19 October 2026
The Smart Education Nigeria Initiative (SENI) has begun preparations for its first phased implementation in Adamawa State, with school management systems, virtual STEM laboratories, educational computers and complementary facilities among the initial priorities.
Established under Smart Nigeria Initiative and coordinated by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Nigeria, SENI brings together educational institutions, technology providers and strategic partners to improve access to effective teaching, relevant learning resources and appropriate educational technologies.
Initial implementation priorities
School-level engagement will explore the Smart Education Management System (SEMS) and other suitable digital institutional services, alongside guided virtual STEM activities and programmes designed to improve access to computers in schools and households.
The educational computer programmes include Smart School Computer Laboratories, One Laptop per Teacher and One Laptop per Family. Prospective complementary facilities include classroom displays, connectivity and associated technical services.
These interventions form part of SENI's ten-programme framework, which also addresses professional educator development, virtual learning, e-libraries, curriculum-aligned resources and supporting infrastructure.
Institutional adoption and partnerships
SENI's role is to help schools and education managers identify suitable resources, connect with qualified providers and establish workable conditions for training, technical support and continuing use. The framework allows multiple providers and specialists to contribute according to the needs of participating institutions.
Adamawa will provide an initial implementation reference for wider programme development. The scope of participating schools, partner agreements, equipment availability and formal programme flag-off will be communicated as arrangements are confirmed.
How to participate
Schools, educators, families, education managers, technology providers and other potential partners can review the participation pathways and prepare a brief describing their needs or proposed contributions. Schools interested in SEMS may also consult the platform's official website.
